Act Two - Scene Two by Catherine

An upper bedchamber in 221 Baker Street. It is dim. Lit only by a single lamp. Mary Watson paces distractedly up and down the carpet. She rips away at a lace handkerchief distractedly. She sits down on the bed as Watson enters the room.

Crossing quickly to her, Watson embraces her tenderly.

Mary: Oh John.....are you sure it isn't James? Oh well then.John! What shall I do? Dear me. What SHALL I do?

Bursts into hysterical weeping

Watson shakes his head and pounds on the ear that was nearest Mrs. Wastes outburst.

Watson: As I see it,the first thing you must do, Maud.....

Mrs. Watson stops wailing immediately and fixes Watson with a basilisk like glare.

Mary: And who is "Maud" pray tell?

Watson quickly clears his throat.

Watson: I mean"Mary"
You really must cease this weeping. For your own good...

He glances at the audience with a meaningful look

Watson: ....not to mention mine. Holmes cannot think with all of this infernal racket taking place.

Mrs. Watson blows her nose rather loudly and gives Watson a watery smile.

Mary: I shall try, dearest. Really. I will

Watson pats her on the shoulder

Watson: Good. Excellent idea.Now. You must leave everything to Holmes. He......

Watsons' trails off as a tremendous crash is heard.

Watson, still holding his wife turns and looks in the direction of the noise which appears to have come from the attic above them. Getting to his feet he exclaims

Watson: What the devil......

Mrs. Watson frowns

Mary: John,such language

CRASH !
      BOOM !
         and
            A VERY LOUD BANG

are then heard. And at that precise moment, Mustard bursts into the room brandishing a revolver which he points directly at Watson and his wife.

Mustard: Now doctor ,you just sit where you are and thing's be fine they will

Enter Watsup who casually makes his way over to Mrs. Watson

Watsup: Mary, my dear. It is good to see you again. You remain...if I do say so.......

Watson who is rolling his eyes

Watson: Must you?

Watsup taking Mary's hand and raising it to his lips glances at Watson

Watsup: oh, indeed. I must..... As beautiful as ever.

Watsup kisses Mary's hand and as he dose so, he pulls her away from Watson just as Mustard jumps between him and Watsup

Watsup: And now, I am really afraid that we must be off
Goodbye doctor!

Mustard quickly thumps poor Watson over the head, rendering him unconcious. Watson sinks to the carpet as his wife screams his name

Mary: John!!!!!!!

Mrs. Watson looks apprehensively at Watsup who grins and flashes his teeth

Mrs. Watson faints as Watsup gathers her limp form into his arms

Watsup: And now, Mary my own true, dear wife..........you are coming with me!

All three exit....stage right as the sounds of feet on the outer stairs are heard
